Great post -- just got referred to it via 100 best business books blog. As an author I try to take full advantage of facebook. Here's what I've done in the 29 days since pub date of THE VISION BOARD:
1) My profile pix is 1/2 book and 1/2 me (50/50) people like it I do the same on twitter.com
2) My events like the celebrity/charity booksigning launching the book at Digital Hollywood conference can go in the pix section
3) I have a dedicated page for THE VISION BOARD
4) I also have the official THE VISION BOARD facebook group
5) My updates include info on recent press on the book and on the topic itself so it's not just me me me
6) My contributors to the book put up videos and link to me!
That gives you some more ideas! PS I also promo free 20 pages which your readers can find at http;//tinyurl.com/seeinsidebook

PLUS I am trying out facebook ads that link to autographed copies for sale for the holidays more on that later

This is an excellent article -- very helpful information without being overwhelming.

I'd like to add that I believe it is very important to have a consistent image (and good headshot) across all social media platform. For example, what you include on LinkedIn should add to what you include on Facebook. The information is different parts of one whole.

And I actually think the third leg of this social media marketing stool at the moment is Twitter (and not MySpace). Twitter is so deceptively simple that people misunderstand its power -- that is, they misunderstand until they've gotten a taste of its power.

If you need information on using Twitter effectively, there's plenty to be found on the internet. Or you could check out my special report on using Twitter and Facebook for book marketing campaigns at http://www.queensofbookmarketing.com/page1.php.
